Slab leak? We have touched on garbage disposals, pipe bursts, clogs – some of the more common plumbing topics and today, we are bringing a sometimes-stealthier issue to the blog – slab leaks.
What are Slab Leaks?
Slab leaks occur when water escapes from the pipes within your home’s walls or under its foundation. These leaks can cause serious damage to the structure and foundation of your home, not to mention the property inside. Slab leaks come in all shapes and sizes with all of them holding the potential to be quite dangerous.
How Do I Know I Have a Slab Leak?
Slab leaks are structural, meaning they exist in less obvious areas like within your floorboards, walls, or under your foundation. The sound of running water when your taps are turned off is an indicator that there may be water running where you don’t want it to be. Warm spots on your floor can mean that hot water has escaped and is transferring heat to the surrounding flooring. Finally, if your water bills are unusually high, check with members of your household to see if they have been using more water and if not, then perhaps excess water has been escaping through a slab leak.
What Does a Slab Leak Repair Look Like?
Some plumbers will provide outdated and invasive slab leak repairs like excavation or digging up a huge hole to get to the pipeline. Isley Plumbing trusts modern plumbing technology to ensure a safe, minimally invasive repair. Through a process known as pipe lining, we offer a trenchless method of pipe repair. Pipe lining uses a chemical coating for the inside walls of your pipes only requiring two small holes for each end of the pipeline, so there is no need to disturb your landscape or yard.
